Dare you to Meditate

2.24.2021: I just came across this quote recently in a zivaKIDS webinar and thought that was so powerful:

“If every 8-year-old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.” -Dalai Lama

Could you just imagine the next generation each living their life full of peace with the tools needed to be grounded? Wouldn’t that be something? Am I enrolling my kids for meditation now you ask? NO. I should, but I can just imagine their faces of disgust when I tell them, “Mommy signed you up for a meditation course online!” Mind you, that we're probably the best candidate to sign up for this but mmm, I’ll just think about it. I myself have NEVER mediated. That is. not until COVID hit and I figured, what the heck. I have to admit, I felt calm. Peaceful. Sometimes I fell asleep (I choose to do things late at night; I am NOT a morning person).

However, there is SCIENCE behind meditation. It helps to sharpen your attention, it can increase resiliency to stress, increase compassion, it’s a way to improve mental health and have a positive impact on your relationships. If it can do some of this, why the heck wouldn’t you try it, right? I encourage you to try it out. Find a short, 5-minute mediation exercise on I don’t know, youtube? and see where that takes you…. I double dog dare you.
